“Black College Club means so much more to me than just its name. I personally believe it can help any student, not just Black students. The college tours and lessons that we had every Monday at 5:00 p.m. inspired me to think about my future and going to college because I have always wanted to go, while also teaching me that college isn’t the only path to success and making it in life. Ms. LaDon, Mrs. Jason, and Mrs. Michelle have always supported me, encouraged me, and been there whenever I needed guidance. They truly care about helping students succeed. The spring break trips and the trips where we went to Detroit to the museum to learn about Black history were not all just college tours. They were fun experiences where we made memories, explored new places, and built friendships. Visiting Morgan State University in March 2025 inspired me to want to attend there one day in 2028! Black College Club has taught me to chase my goals, chase my dreams, never give up, and believe in myself, no matter the circumstances.”

“I am an upcoming junior at Homestead High School. Coming from a predominantly white school has given me many reasons why attending an HBCU is my dream. Hearing the words, ‘What is an HBCU?’ from not only students but teachers has made me want to attend one and learn about it, so I can stand up and be a voice for our HBCUs. In eighth grade, I attended my first BCC meetings and trip—and what I learned in four days! I have now been on three trips, attending over 20 different campuses. I would love to encourage any high school student to participate because it is never too early to look at college and learn our past history. Thank you so much, Fort Wayne Black College Club, for everything you do for our community.”
